Getting started with monitoring
Introduction
Monitoring is an automated process that checks the availability of services like websites or applications. During an outage, downtime monitoring detects the problem and alerts the right person on the development team.
Create your first monitor
To get started, we will create a general monitor based on an HTTP URL. This monitor will alert us when a website or URL becomes unavailable.
Step 1: Choosing the URL to monitor
- Go to Monitors → Create monitor
- On Send alerts when, select Website or URL becomes unavailable
- Enter your URL
Step 2: Customize your monitor
- Enter a name for your Monitor
- Select a Project for your Monitor
- Select the Worker locations (Singapore, US, UK, or All)
Step 3: Choose the alerting options
- See Set alerts on downtime
Step 4: Create a monitor
- Now that we have finished the basic setup, we can click on Save monitor.
- The monitor is now up and running, continuously checking the URL.
